Test Movie Review: A Star-Studded Letdown – Madhavan, Nayanthara, Siddharth’s Talent Buried Under Weak Scrip

Test Movie Review: Despite Stellar Cast, This Film Fumbles Its Potential

Test, a thriller with a great deal of expectation built around it starring Madhavan, Nayanthara and Siddharth was expected to be the next big thing but it is underwhelming and infuriating. It feuds over its A-list talents in pointless scripts with no structure and a weak execution that leaves viewers with the monumental question- ‘How did such a brilliant cast end up in such a mediocre movie’?

Plot Overview: A Premise That Could’ve Shined

Test fuses personal betrayal and corporate treachery. The plot on its own does not need much work put into it, imagine what would happen if we mix “Drishyam” with “The Social Network”. Turns out the writers forgot that the potential for growth required, breath and care was execution.

Where the Film Fails: A Script In Crisis

Pacing Woes: Climax feels rushed.

Underwritten Characters: Madhavan’s turn as a corporate bigwig and Nayanthara as an eyeball-grabbing journo feel too mainstream turning both into skeletons riddled with holes.

Twists You See Coming: Mike drops expecatly no one asked for, not even close to thrilling.

Tweeted mast mast actor rajeev masand, “It looks like writers stopped working after First Act,” was a hard hit statement full of sad truth.

Silver Linings: Cast Tackles the Challenge of a Lifetime

Madhavan’s Charisma: His trademark intensity almost saves some scenes, but even he cannot rescue cumbersome dialogue.

Nayanthara’s Grace: She has a captivating aura onscreen, and yet she seems to be stuck in an early version of Airaa.

Siddharth’s Underused Genius: The celebrated actor offers little nuance in this film, as he is relegated to an uninspired antagonist role.

Reacting Anger: Heartbreak

Disappointment flooded social media from the younger generation:

“What a waste of scripts! Nayanthara deserves better.” – @CinemaLover

“His worst outing remains the same for almost a decade now… Madhavan…?” – @MovieBuff2025

“This was such a letdown sobbing Siddharth fans. So much potential wasted.” – @SidFanClub

Bombay’s Drones’ Lens Focus Too Much On Aesthetic And Less On Substance

The movie is centered towards romance. Subplots of romance, not corporate drama, are where the filmmakers are portraying Mumbai as a Wiiffle ball version of Scam 1992. There’s no sharp edge here.

Final Les Miserable Verdict: Test Isn’t Purely A Disaster But That Does Not Transfer Into It Being Good

Unlike Trainspotting, Test is not a movie that resonates with audiences. It’s sad, painfully void of ambition; and that is what seems to be the bone of contention. Pay yourself some comfort and rewatch Taare Zameen Par.
