I am sure you can remember the time when you were scrolling along with your WhatsApp family group chat then get ten messages at the same time? This is precisely what occurred when the news came out that India will have the Golden Visa of UAE. I never managed to stop my phone ever since then – my cousin won t stop to send me a list of properties in Dubai, and my aunt keeps on sending me memes of Sardarjis buying one-way tickets.
Why We All Are Getting Crazier
Truth to be told, both Indians and Dubai share a love affair that can be even compared to Bollywood drama. The Golden Visa then simply escalated this to another level. Imagine:
There will be no more nightmares of visa renewals after every 2 years
The liberty to work without staying fixed to a single employer
Inviting your whole parivaar (yes, your mother in-law too)
For no particular reason, it is so easy to understand why the 22-year-old son of my neighbor apparently became very interested in the real estate investment over night.

I Googled the requirements after a 3 hours straight laugh at memes. Apparently to be either:
Whips wealthy enough to invest in a second estate that would be priced higher than his whole family village
A physician/engineer/scientist (or as my mother used to say: – Beta, you should have listened no?)
To my surprise – a famous person in social media, who had more followers than the number of people attending my cousin wedding
The Reality Check which Nobody wants
Between all the jokes, we should not forget:
• That swanky apartment in Dubai will go at 3 kidneys and childhood savings of yours
• Summers of 50 o C in temperature that leaves your Punjabi sweater collection to collect dust
Everybody and there tipsy sibling is now putting in an application – there will be stiff competition
Is It Worth Thinking about?
If you:
Has the capability or wealth to pass the cut offs
Is able to deal with distance to your favorite chaatwala
Wish to earn tax-free (and air-con all year round)
and possibly this is now your time.
