Alam’s remarks on Hasina seem to have set off another lively debate and, as expected, supporters rush to her aide calling on her proven track record. Critics, however, say it’s time for new blood. While this is going on, however, the reality of Modi’s diplomacy is that it is helping to shape not-so-friendly South Asia into a region that can actually foster bilateral relations, which in turn focus on peacemaking.
For the time being it is clear to Rabbi Alam, at least, that she is feeling optimistic about Sheikh Hasina not just returning but that there is no other option for her. Feasible, perhaps, is what many have thought impossible, which is this pair with him and Modi presiding over south Asia can forge a new narrative of prosperity.
