Anurag Kashyap And Vetrimaaran Introduces ‘Bad Girl’ With Teaser Launch
Makers of the film have now Issued a teaser of their forthcoming Tamil coming-of-age drama, ‘Bad Girl’. Anjali Sivaraman plays the lead character in the film, which is written, directed and produced by the award-winning Anurag Kashyap, Vetrimaaran. Anurag Kashyap and Vetrimaaran are known worldwide for their impressive work in Indian cinema.
The teaser’s first scene has a young woman who wants to confess something. She starts by saying she has always desired her boyfriend. The plot then looks back at her middle school days, which is one of the most common stories among school girls. By the time she is in middle school, the unarticulated needs that accompany this stage begin to set in. She is bewildered however when female schoolmates deem her as “disappointing for being so open about her feelings and male counterparts very keenly label her as “promiscuous.”
In the efforts to come to terms with her new relationship by the time she is in college, she is brutally confronted with the misogynistic world which existed all along.
The movie also features Shanthi Priya, Saranya Ravichandran, Hriday Haroon, Teeja Arunachalam and Sashank Bommi Reddy. ‘Bad Girl’ also marks the beginning of South Indian cinema for the National Award winning music composer, Amit Trivedi, who has composed six songs for this film. Cinematography was done by Preetha Jayaraman, Jagadeesh Ravi and Prince Anderson, and the film was edited by Radha Sridhar.
World Premiere at Rotterdam International Film Festival
‘Bad Girl’ is expected to premiere at the 54th Rotterdam International Film Festival held between January 30 and February 9, 2025. The film has been selected for the much coveted Tiger Competition.
Vetrimaaran is also the producer of the film under his Grass Root Film Company.
